Privacy Policy

The short version: Ghost Race runs entirely on your iPhone and Apple Watch. Your activities, routes, and health data stay on your device and, if you have iCloud on, in your own private iCloud account. There is no Ghost Race account, no server, and no analytics. We never see your data, we don't run ads, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.

This policy explains what Ghost Race ("the app," "we," "us," published by Pith Labs LLC) accesses, when, and why.

What stays on your device

  • Your recorded activities, GPS routes, splits, and race replays are stored only on your iPhone (and Apple Watch), using Apple's on-device storage.
  • Your settings, unit choices, and the coaching the app generates are computed and kept on your device. The post-race summary is written by an on-device Apple model; nothing about your activity is sent to us or to any AI service.
  • The app makes no network calls of its own. It has no backend to send anything to.

Apple iCloud (optional, and it's yours)

If you have iCloud enabled, your activities may sync across your own Apple devices through Apple's CloudKit, stored in your private iCloud account. This is handled entirely by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. We have no access to it and no copy of it. Turn off iCloud for the app to keep everything strictly on-device.

Apple Health

With your permission, Ghost Race uses Apple Health so your workouts and calories are accurate:

  • Reads: your heart rate during an activity; your active energy so calorie totals match the Health app; and your weight, date of birth, and biological sex to estimate calories when no watch is worn.
  • Writes: when you tap Save, the workout (distance, calories, heart rate) is written to Health so it appears alongside your other activities. Nothing is written to Health if you discard an activity.
  • Health data is used only to run and record your activity on your device. It is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, and never sent to us or any third party.
  • You control this in the Health app under Sharing, and can turn any of it off at any time.

Location

  • Ghost Race uses your location to trace your route while you run, bike, or walk, including with the screen off or the app in the background during an active recording. It requests "While Using the App" access only.
  • Your route is stored on your device (and your own iCloud if enabled). It is not shared with us or anyone else.

Motion and Bluetooth

  • Motion: the app reads your iPhone's barometer to improve altitude and grade measurements during an activity. This stays on your device.
  • Bluetooth: if you choose to pair a heart-rate strap or sensor, Bluetooth is used to connect to it during activities. No data leaves your device.

Accounts and identifiers

There is no account, no sign-in, and no email or password. The app does not create an advertising identifier and does not ask to track you.

What we do not do

  • No advertising, no ad networks, and no selling or sharing of your data.
  • No analytics and no tracking that follows you across other apps or websites.
  • No server that receives your activities, routes, or health data. There is nothing for us to see.

Purchases

Subscriptions and the lifetime unlock are processed by Apple through the App Store. We receive only whether your Apple account currently has premium access, never your name, card, or payment details.

Who processes the data

  • Apple provides on-device Health, the optional iCloud sync of your own data, and in-app purchases, under Apple's own privacy terms.
  • We use no other companies to process your data, because your data does not leave your Apple devices.

Retention

Your activities remain on your device (and your own iCloud) until you delete them in the app. Deleting the app removes its on-device data; data you saved to Apple Health or your iCloud is managed by you through Apple.

Children

Ghost Race is a general-audience fitness app and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app stores nothing on our servers, there is nothing for us to collect.

We'll update this page if our practices change and revise the "Last updated" date above.
