Privacy Policy

The short version: the app works almost entirely on your iPhone. Your photos and paintings stay on your device unless you choose to start a race with a friend or share a painting to the community gallery. We don't run ads, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.

This policy explains what Custom Paint by Number Photos ("the app," "we," "us," published by Pith Labs LLC) collects, when, and why.

What stays on your device

  • The photos you pick and the color by number paintings made from them are processed and stored only on your iPhone. Turning a photo into a painting happens entirely on your device. Your photos are never uploaded for that.
  • Your app settings, progress, and the optional username you choose are stored on your device.

What is sent off your device, only when you choose

Two optional features send data to our backend (Google Firebase). If you never use them, nothing leaves your phone.

  • Race a Friend: starting or joining a race uploads a compressed copy of the picture plus your chosen username and your live progress, so your friend's phone can build the same puzzle and show the head to head progress. Race data is temporary and is deleted automatically (see Retention).
  • Community gallery: if you share a painting, we upload the picture, the generated painting, the name you give it, and a category. When you play or rate a community painting, we record that play or rating. Browsing and your own shared paintings are tied to your anonymous ID below.

Identifiers and accounts

  • No account needed. There is no email or password account. When the app first launches it creates a random, anonymous identifier (via Firebase Anonymous Authentication). It isn't tied to your name, email, Apple ID, or any real identity.
  • That anonymous ID is used to attribute the race and community content you create, enforce fair usage limits, power the report and safety system, and let you manage paintings you've shared.
  • Username is optional and chosen by you. If you set one, it is shown to race opponents and on community leaderboards. Pick something you're comfortable being public.

What we do not do

  • No advertising, no ad networks, and no selling or sharing of your data for advertising.
  • No outside analytics, and no tracking that follows you across other apps or websites.
  • No access to your contacts, location, microphone, or photo library beyond the specific photo you pick.

Keeping the community safe

Pictures you race or share are scanned on your device for inappropriate content before they're ever sent, and again on the receiving device before they're shown. The community is for art, not people. We don't allow nudity, sexual content, violence, hate, or other objectionable material, and people aren't allowed in the public gallery. Anyone can report a picture. Reported content may be hidden and removed after review, and repeat offenders can be banned from sharing.

Purchases

Subscriptions and the lifetime unlock are processed by Apple through the App Store. We receive only whether your account currently has premium access, never your name, card, or payment details.

Who processes the data

  • Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, App Check) hosts the race and community backend on our behalf. App Check helps ensure requests come from the genuine app.
  • Apple handles in-app purchases.

We don't use any other companies for the data above.

Retention

  • Race data expires automatically (about 30 days after the last activity) and is deleted.
  • Community paintings stay until they expire from inactivity or you remove them. You can delete a painting you shared from within the app ("Shared by you"), or email us to request removal.
  • Content reports are kept for a limited period for review, then deleted.

Your choices

  • Use the app fully offline by simply not starting races or sharing to the community. Then nothing leaves your device.
  • Remove paintings you've shared at any time from the app.
  • To request deletion of content tied to you, or for any privacy question, email support@pithlabs.ai.

Children

The app is rated for all ages, and the photo to painting experience is family friendly. It is not specifically directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The Race and Community features involve sharing content and are best used with a parent's awareness. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, for example by sharing a painting, contact us at support@pithlabs.ai and we'll delete it.
